Joshua Feinberg and the Computer Consulting Kit: Monster Career Advice

Joshua Feinberg offers many tips for IT professionals trying to start careers in consulting as part of his Computer Consulting Kit.  He spoke with Monster.com about important issues surrounding those looking to hire qualified IT staff, specifically related to the major company Google.

Recruiters across industries often speak of the “Google factor;” the fear that the company will muscle its way in and take over, particularly because of its ability to grab great talent that energizes businesses and is great at innovation.

Joshua stresses the importance of keeping sharp and targeting marketing and recruiting activities as part of his Computer Consulting Kit.  A lot of companies have started to think about recruiting like Google to get smart, creative professionals that can think about the future.

Because Joshua deals with smaller computer consulting firms that need to work on a budget (that is precisely the audience he is targeting with his Computer Consulting Kit resource materials) but still demand the same high-quality support staff, he had the following things to say to Monster about the future of technology careers in relationship to the powerhouse of Google:

"While high tech startups seeking to innovate have to find the ‘best and brightest,’ IT consulting businesses and systems integrators have to find tech talent that they can afford," they are limited by factors including rates paid by clients, so "hiring stars and prima donnas is typically not a good idea. It’s usually much more important to find IT talent that is personable, well-organized, able to work well under pressure, resourceful and enjoys hand-holding when it comes to end-user support."
