3 IT Marketing Tips for Direct Mail

Apr 17th, 2008 | By Joshua Feinberg | Category: Marketing

When you are conducting an IT marketing direct mail campaign, you need to make sure it’s targeted to suit the needs of a very specific group of people.

Are you overwhelmed when you think about IT marketing?  When you are just starting out in computer consulting, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed; you have about 30 IT marketing tasks that you can do at any given moment.  However, you need to look at the list and figure out the 4-5 ones that most interest you and work on no more than these at one time.  You should have more than one IT marketing task going on at once … but not more than that!

Tip 1:  Choose Your IT Marketing Task

You can choose outbound telemarketing, postcard mailings to a specific group along with a follow-up mailing every other week or direct mail letters.  You can also try trade shows, expos or holding your own seminar.  Choose your IT marketing tasks wisely and do what you can do make them work.

Tip 2:  Diversify, Diversify, Diversify!

You should be hitting different areas of IT marketing and find a way to measure and track your choices.  Determine the type of leads you are getting and weigh it against the time and money invested.  You need to look at what is working and what is not working so you can do more of the good and less of the bad.

Tip 3:  Evaluate Every Quarter

No matter which IT marketing strategies you choose, you should try them for about two or three months to get a real idea of how they are working.  Once this quarter of trying is over you can stick with the ones that work, get rid of those that didn’t and add some new ones to the process.

Remember – IT marketing is an on-going concept and takes time to refine.
