Developing an IT Marketing Plan for Your Business
Nov 4th, 2007 | By Joshua Feinberg | Category: MarketingAn IT marketing plan is an important part of any computer services business. But how do you create one?
Define Your Market
A good IT marketing plan will start with a clear definition of your target market. Ask yourself some questions about the business in this market to get a better idea of what you need to seek:
1. Who are they?
2. What do they read?
3. To what trade groups do they belong?
4. What are their biggest problems?
5. Where do they hang out (both online and offline)?
6. How many decision makers are in this group?
Study Your Competition
As yourself who else is selling to your target market and determine what they are selling. What prices are they offering and what type of IT marketing strategies do they use? What do their customers like and dislike about them?
Diversify Your Marketing Techniques
You don’t want to focus all your IT marketing efforts into one strategy. You should be using at least three or four different techniques: display ads; direct mail; organizational sponsorships; broadcast media; online, etc.
Create Good Evaluation and Measurement Techniques
You need to have a clear way to measure, evaluate and track the results of your IT marketing strategies so you know which ones are working and which ones are not. You can use coupon codes, department numbers, VIP codes, etc. You can’t afford to waste valuable IT marketing dollars on guesses, so make sure you are really evaluating properly!
