Virtual IT: The Importance of a Good Consulant
Jul 21st, 2008 | By Joshua Feinberg | Category: Virtual ITI’ve been fortunate to be able to talk to a lot of people about the concept of virtual IT and its importance to small businesses. Several years ago I was interviewed by Small Business Computing . com and got to talk about how important a good IT consultant can be to small businesses.
The following is one of the most important points I stressed about virtual IT and its value within a small business:
"The technology advisor should take on the trusted role that puts them in the same class with a CPA or an attorney. You want to be developing the long-term relationship in order to use that consultant as an extension of your business, as a sort of virtual CIO. The cost of that half-hour or fifteen-minute conversation [before making a technology purchase] is going to save you a lot of money in the long run."
